Updated and enlarged, this 160 page book containing 32 colour photographs, contains details of all diesel locomotives, diesel railcars, railbuses and electric multiple units to have operated on Iarnród Éireann and Translink NI Railways, together with their constituent companies. The book also contains a full current coaching stock fleet list for both railway companies (correct to October 2004). Historical information is also given in respect of all withdrawn diesel locomotives, railcars and railbuses that have operated on the main Irish railway system. Also included are details of preserved steam locomotives, engineers’ vehicles, distance tables and speed restrictions. Additional sections now incorporated into the book are as follows: LUAS Dublin tram system - detailing the tram vehicles and route mileages. Preserved coaching stock - a list of preserved coaching stock registered for main line running over the Irish railway network. Freight train workings - Lists by traffic type all remaining freight workings, including details of route, days of operation and booked departure times. This section also includes brief notes on the type of wagons used and the usual motive power. In addition, the section on closed passenger lines of Ireland has now been expanded to cover all lines, both passenger and freight.
