The Cobh Rambler

Saturday 07 March 1992

Tour Review

The route for this tour was advertised as:

Bray - Dublin Connolly - Inchicore - Ballybrophy - Limerick - Ennis - Limerick - Limerick Jn - Cork - Cobh - Cork - Limerick Jn - Inchicore - Dublin Connolly - Bray.

The train started at Dun Laoghaire because of engineering works between Bray and Dun Laoghaire.

Due to a malicious bomb hoax between Dublin Heuston and Kildare, coupled with an engineering blockade on the Rosslare line, it was not possible to run the railtour as originally advertised. The train ran instead to Sligo and back, hauled by 159 between Dun Laoghaire and Dublin Connolly and locomotive 051 for the remainder of the tour.

The train was terminated at Dublin Connolly on the return journey, with passengers being conveyed forward to Dun Laoghaire and Bray by scheduled DART service.

The train was formed of Iarnród Éireann Cravens coaches.
