124 turns over a new leaf

As part of the preparation work for the Downpatrick & County Down Railway’s “Phantom Flyer” Halloween ghost trains, last Saturday our 121 class loco 124 was used to haul a special train to Inch Abbey to transport the volunteers working on getting the station ready for the ghoulish visitors. The team (many of them also ITG volunteers) spent the whole day clearing leaves from the car park and tending to vegetation growth. Another task included digging a grave (all part of the show, don’t worry). After hours of manual labour, the team headed back to Downpatrick in the plough van, again with 124 providing traction.

Interested in volunteering? You can find out more about how to get involved here.

If you can’t make it Downpatrick or Carrick-on-Suir but would still like to help you can also donate, all amounts are gratefully received.
