On Saturday, 23rd May, several ITG locomotives took part in a special charter train event for a group of German tourists at the Downpatrick & Railway. No.124 was in action hauling the heritage set of vintage carriages, along with DCDR’s 450 Class DEMU No.458. The visitors were also treated to a series of runpasts. One of these featured Nos.124+146 hauling the vintage carriages in multiple. We believe that this is the first time a pair of GM-built locomotives has hauled a train in Irish railway preservation history. The last mainline occurence involved Iarnród Éireann-owned locomotives over 16 years ago.
